Well, this is my first guest appearance to you all since I hosted this fashion Blog. It feels great to appear before you all and there is a definite reason for this too.
I keep getting comments from my beloved readers about post reviews, hot discussions, latest fashion trends and all interesting stuffs. I feel happy for the response and attentions youths are leaving to my weblog.
Recently, I received a series of questions from one of my blog visitor. She was not asking anything about what this blog consist of. Neither she was interested on my next post nor did she have a plan to write for me.
However, finally I discovered her objective. She was more interested into knowing about my objective to launch a fashion blog and its connect with the youth. The questions were interesting and I can’t avoid answering them.
Here is a list queries she had in stock for me. I tried my level best to answer them in brief. Pardon me; I am busy with my other blogs too. So you have to consider my time factor too.
Here are the ones, I dealt with:
1. Do you think that fashion blogs have inculcate the word “fashionista” among the youth?
Ans: Yes, to a great extent. Blogs have been exceptional media in promoting fashion trends among youth. With the onset of social media tools (blog and community based sites) teenagers are sharing latest fashion ideas, fashion resources and references among them. All are happening real-time for real people and there is no better place than a blog to discuss these in a big way.
Moreover, images, videos and other popular web2.0 properties made it an interesting place to discuss about fashion world. So, the term “Fashionista” is truly a by-product of fashion blogs.
2. How do the different dimensions of blogs create a voyage in the mind set of these youths?
Ans: Blog is popular for its interactive nature and variety in dimension. It has several interactive components that youth can apply to their daily life. Youths lead fast life-style and love to see new things every alternate day. Blogs too are of same characteristics.
For example,
Youths like fresh ideas, new mind sets – Blog delivers updated and fresh news
Youths prefer surprises – Blogs feature interesting and productive information
Youths are highly communicative – Blogs are interactive and community based
Youth believe in real-time activities –Blogs feature latest deals and live actions
In all the way Blog is just the perfect online platform for youths.
3. Street Fashion or Casual Fashion which is the most appropriate choice to hold up in the blogs?
Ans: It depends on how a blog caters to its audience profile and their culture. Not all fashion blogs target same set of readers having similar taste and preferences. However, street fashion is what gets immediate attention from fashion-minded people. So, the same is with fashion blogs too.
Street fashion is ever-changing, publicly open and always surprises us with something new and affordable. So, blogs featuring street fashion earn quick views, a lot of comments, hot discussions and high readership value. On the contrary, casual fashion is not counted among favourites because of its conservativeness and less attractive features.
4. What kind of contents is mostly read by the readers of fashion blogs?
Ans: Fashion blogs that provide expert reviews, tips, advices and references are the most sought after. Youths want real feedbacks from real people involved with this fashion world. Moreover, contents with fine images, videos, user ratings and shopping references are real juicy.
Readers want to know – who have designed the fashion item; who are using it; how is the experience; where to collect it from and what is the best price they can avail it? If a blog can answer all these queries in simple language, it will obviously earn maximum readership.
5. How do you benefit by these blogs?
Ans: Revenue generation to be specific. A potential blog having good page rank and quality contents can earn $100 to $500 per month on an average.
There are a few income gateways I set for my blogs. These are:
1. Guest posting or paid reviews (when clients want to publish their business reviews on my blog with a link reference)
2. Link placement (when webmasters or client himself want to place website link on my blog’s homepage or inner page)
3. Banner advertisement (when advertisers want to display their ad-visuals on my blog pages)
4. Adsense (I have adsense account with Google. Google put relevant ads on publisher’s blog and pay based on CTR (Click Through Rate). If the ad impressions placed on my blog gets a click, I get paid)
5. Sponsorships (I am yet to focus on but definitely have a plan for this. I can sell any of the blog properties as “sponsored by advertisers”)
6. “Fashion blogs and teens” do they connect?
Ans: Yes, of course. Teens are more fashion-driven than anyone in the society. They grow special interest on latest fashion and trendy stuffs. These could be with apparel segment, life style accessories, consumables, retail products, gadgets and anything that makes style statement. So, for obvious reason fashion blogs are close to their heart and soul.
7. In fashion blogs what is more significant videos or content?
Ans: Of course, content. Though, I try to balance video and content in a proper ratio for my fashion blogs. Everybody knows about YouTube Videos. So, for obvious, readers won’t come to a blog to watch a video unless it is too required or specific. Videos can add a value to content, can’t replace it.
8. Gen X or Gen Y do you think these blogs are more informative than the dailies?
Ans: Yes, absolutely. People are switching to online irrespective of age or generation. As compared to dailies, blogs have unlimited space for information and variety of resource links. Blog information is easily digestible and simple in nature. Readers can quickly comment on a blog post or ask questions which are not possible for dailies. Call To Action for blogs is instant as opposed to dailies.
